Best Time to Visit Rwanda

Rwanda is a stunningly beautiful country full of lush greenery, volcanoes, and diverse wildlife. But when is the best time to visit this African nation? Depending on what activities you plan to do during your stay in Rwanda, different times may be better than others.

Here’s a breakdown of the weather and peak tourist seasons so that you can decide which time will be the most enjoyable for your visit.

Weather in Rwanda

Rwanda experiences two rainy seasons each year; one from February to June and another from September to November. In general, temperatures remain fairly consistent year-round with an average high temperature of 25°C (77°F).

During the peak of summer months (December to February) temperatures may reach 29°C (84°F), but nights are usually chilly with lows reaching 14°C (57°F). In winter months (June through August), temperatures cool off significantly with highs only reaching 21°C (69°F).

Peak Tourist Seasons in Rwanda

The busiest time for tourists visiting Rwanda is between June and September as this coincides with some of the driest months in the country.

This makes it an ideal time for trekking through Volcanoes National Park, watching gorillas in their natural habitat, or taking part in other outdoor activities. December through February are also popular because they offer dry conditions while still having warmer temperatures compared to other months.

It’s important to note that if you plan on visiting during these peak times, prices tend to be higher and accommodations can fill up quickly due to increased demand.

If you want to avoid peak tourist seasons altogether and save some money on lodging and transportation then consider traveling between March and May or October and November. During these shoulder months, rain showers are common but they usually don’t last long periods of time.

Additionally, hotels may offer discounts during this slower period which provides great savings opportunities for travelers on a budget!

When deciding when’s the best time to visit Rwanda there is no one-size-fits-all answer as everyone has different preferences based on what activities they plan on doing during their trip.

However, by understanding both the climate conditions and peak tourist season it becomes easier for travelers to decide which time works best for them!

Whether you’re hoping for good weather conditions or just looking for a good deal on travel costs, there’s sure to be something that fits your needs when planning a trip to Rwanda!
